Renewal Zones

This passage comes from the latest book I am reading called 'Riding the Dragon: 10 lessons for inner strength in challenging times' by Robert J. Wicks.

"If there are places and people with whom we can laugh, relax, dream, and plot the future, then discouragement need not take root or flourish. People who can encourage, challenge, and be fun-loving companions can go a long way in preventing or stemming burnout. Whereas, if all the places in our life - work, home, and recreation - and the people who inhabit them are filled with worry, anxiety, anger, or angst, the interpersonal space we occupy will always be gray. When this is so, compassion fatigue and a sense that life has lost its joy will become evident."

Find people who make you happy. People who encourage and uplift you are necessary for anyone who is searching for a personal silver lining. The silver lining is there for anyone who wants it. It's a much easier journey to discovery when you surround yourself with laughter and love!

Thinking like Leonardo Da Vinci

I found this article on WikiHow and thought it was great! The comments there paint a much different story. Perhaps I'm as strange as he was...?!

How to Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Leonardo da Vinci was the ultimate multi-tasker: an accomplished scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, botanist, musician, and writer. If you want to be a Renaissance Man (or Renaissance Woman), you can learn a lot from how Leonardo da Vinci lived and thought. Based on studying the life and work of this famous polymath[1] anyone can emulate da Vinci with the following steps.

Steps

  1. Curiosità. Curiosità is an "insatiably curious approach to life and unrelenting quest for continuous learning". Great minds have one characteristic in common: they continuously ask questions throughout their lives. Leonardo's endless quest for truth and beauty clearly demonstrates this. What makes great minds different is the quality of their questions. You can increase your ability to solve problems by increasing your ability to ask good questions. Like da Vinci, you should cultivate an open mind that allows you to broaden your universe and increase your ability to explore it. Here are some ways to apply Curiosità:
    • Keep a journal. Bring a journal wherever you go and use it often. Write your ideas and thoughts there. Try to write several statements a day that start with "I wonder why/how..."
    • Observe according to a theme. Choose a theme and observe things according to the theme for a day. For example, let's say you choose "communication". For the entire day, observe every type and instance of communication you come across. You can then record your observations in your journal.
    • Stream of consciousness exercise. Pick a question and write the thoughts and associations that occur to you as they are. Don't edit them. The important thing is to keep writing. This is also referred to as freewriting.

  2. Dimostrazione. Dimostrazione is "a commitment to test knowledge through experience, persistence, and a willingness to learn from mistake". Wisdom comes from experience and the principle of Dimostrazione helps you get the most out of your experience. Here are some ways to apply Dimostrazione:
    • Check your beliefs. Do you hold any beliefs that you haven't verified through experience?
    • Three points of view. First, make a strong argument against your belief. Next, take a distant view of your belief (for example, as if you live in a different culture) and review it. Finally, find friends who can give you different perspectives.
    • Analyze the advertisements that affect you. Look at the advertisements in your favorite magazine and analyze the strategy and tactics they use. Find the advertisements that affect you most and find out why.
    • Find “anti-role models” to learn from. List the names of some people whose mistakes you want to avoid. Learn from them so that you won't encounter the same pitfalls.

  3. Sensazione. Sensazione is "the continual refinement of the senses, especially sight, as the means to enliven experience". According to da Vinci, we can best practice Dimostrazione through our senses, particularly sight. That's why one of Leonardo's mottoes is saper vedere (knowing how to see) upon which he built his work in arts and science. Here are some ways to apply Sensazione:
    • Write detailed description of an experience. For instance, describe your experience of watching a sunrise in your journal.
    • Learn how to describe a smell.
    • Learn to draw.
    • Listen to different sounds around you. Learn to listen to different intensity of sounds from the softest (e.g. your breathing) to the loudest (e.g. traffic).
    • Live in the moment. Practice mindfulness.

  4. Sfumato. Sfumato is "a willingness to embrace ambiguity, paradox, and uncertainty". An essential characteristic of da Vinci's genius is his ability to handle a sense of mystery. Here are two ways to apply Sfumato:
    • Befriend ambiguity. Find some situations in your past where you faced ambiguity (e.g. waiting to hear if your application for a job you wanted was successful). Describe how you felt.
    • Ask yourself questions that relate two opposites. For example, ask yourself how your happiest and saddest moments are related.
    • Practice the Socratic method. The goal with the Socratic method is to examine possibilities, and that is done by asking questions, not by giving answers. Socrates was known (and criticized) for asking questions to which he didn't have answers.[2] The key to using the Socratic method is to be humble. Don't assume that you or anyone knows anything for sure. Question every premise.

  5. Arte/scienza. Arte/scienza is "the development of the balance between science and art, logic and imagination". This is thinking with the “whole brain”. Mind mapping is a powerful method that can help you combine logic and imagination in your work and life. The end result of mapping should be a web-like structure of words and ideas that are somehow related in the writer's mind.
  6. Corporalità. Corporalità is "the cultivation of grace, ambidexterity, fitness, and poise". Leonardo had amazing physical ability that complemented his genius in science and arts. Here are some ways to apply Corporalità:
    • Develop a program for physical fitness. Your program should include three things: flexibility exercises, strength training, and aerobic conditioning.
    • Develop body awareness. Study anatomy. Try yoga. Dance. Do some contact juggling. Whatever strengthens the connection between body and mind, go for it.
    • Cultivate ambidexterity. Leonardo could work with both his right and left hand and regularly switched between them. You can cultivate ambidexterity by using your nondominant hand for relatively simple tasks like brushing your teeth or eating your breakfast. Later you can use your nondominant hand for writing.

  7. Connessione. Connessione is "a recognition of and appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things and phenomena". This, in other words, is systems thinking. One main source of Leonardo's creativity is his ability to form new patterns through connections and combinations of different elements. Here are some ways to apply Connessione:
    • Find ways to link things that seem unrelated. For example, you can try to find connections between a bear and the World Wide Web, or geology and the Mona Lisa (real name "La Joconde").
    • Imagine dialogues. Imagine talking with a role model to gain new perspective and insight. Or you can imagine how some role models would discuss your problem.
    • Think about how things originate. Take an object and think about what elements are involved in its creation and how.

Tips

  • Some other characteristics of da Vinci that might be worth emulating are:[3]

Warnings

  • Because of his wide variety of interests, da Vinci struggled with procrastination. On his death bed he apologized to "God and Man for leaving so much undone."[4]

Racism & Barack Obama

Ok so I'm not even going to get into this. This issue of racism just gets me WAY too fired up, and as you might be able to judge by other posts on this blog, I do my best to stay away from those types of emotions...they are way too low on the vibrational scale for my liking. My significant other suggests that I can't just ignore it and it will go away, with my hippie flowers and my joy, just running around through life like these kinds of things don't exist, but I say phooey. I say phooey on the whole thing. We're about to have a great president. WE ELECTED HIM! We can't find anything better to bitch about besides the fact that the poor man lights up a cigarette once in a while, and the fact that his race doesn't quite match any one race in particular. I say GREAT NEWS! It's high time we got over ourselves anyway just friggin accepted the fact that some people are different. At least Barack Obama isn't green and blue polka dotted...what the bleep would we do then? Face your fears, people!

Ok so with that said, I did discover a blog entry today and I liked what I read. Despite the fact that the issue of racism continues because WE KEEP TALKING AND WRITING ABOUT IT, I still am glad to know that some people, black or white, are just ready to get over it. Local News and Newspapers is the blog I stumbled across. If you're interested, go check it out. He's got a viewpoint much like my own.

And for God's sake...the man is about to pick up all the pieces left behind by George W. Bush. If he wants to have a smoke once in a while, GET OVER IT!

Crickets

As a writer, one of the most enjoyable (or least enjoyable; depending on my mood) things about working with the English language is homonyms. Homonyms, among other things, are words that have the same spelling but completely separate meanings. Example: duck. At the pond, you may have to duck if you startle a duck.

So imagine my surprise when I see a blog entitled All About Cricket. I'm excited because I've always been fond of the sound that crickets make, which is apparently called a 'chirp'. So imagine my surprise when I discover that All About Cricket is actually about another kind of Cricket...one that I've heard, but never given much thought!

This blog is dedicated to all cricket fans over the world, and this doesn't mean the chirpy kind. Updated with live Cricket scores, rundowns of several test matches, and cricket fan information. If you love cricket, or you're looking for a place to figure out who's where and what is when...I think you might have a good time at All About Cricket.

New Blog!

In order to keep all my discoveries in somewhat of an order, I've started a new blog. I'll continue to post anything horoscope or astrology related here. If you'd like to continue the 'working at home' and 'making money online' sagas, you can find my new blog at at-home-money.blogspot.com. There I will go into detail on the programs that are making money for me, the ones that are not, and anything else I discover that's beneficial for stay at home moms, dads, and other work at home website owners or affiliate marketers. Bloomdrop's Zany Zodiacs blog will continue to include updates on weekly Zany Zodiacs horoscopes, plus other oddities that I come across through my internet "bimbling"... (<-- lol at robbellblog).

One Way to Make Money Blogging

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!! 12/31/2008
******Unbeknownst to me, involving your blog with Smorty or any other Paid to Post or Sponsored Reviews website really upsets Google. I have just proven this with my own experience as Google PageRank was updated and the only one of my sites that is back to N/A is the blog I use for Smorty. I'm officially cancelling my account and removing all links to any Pay Per Post, 'make money with your blog' sites until further notice...(which may be never!)

Smorty is a website that offers paid writing jobs for your blog. Based upon some criteria involving page ranks and blog popularity, you will be offered paid assignments and you can start making money for your blog. Your job is to simply write your opinions about people’s products and services, and publish these opinions to your blog. You will be paid shortly after your blog entry has been approved.

Sign up for Smorty. To get blog approval, here are part of Smorty’s guidelines: "Blogs that are not indexed, have little or no content, are banned from search engines or contain hate related and crude content may be rejected or put on Probation until corrected. Your blog must be older than 30 days and have at least 10 posts to apply." Other than that, the only rules are the obvious ones.

One thing that I really like about Smorty is their post exchange program. They pair you with other similarly ranked blogs, and you write a review for that blog. In turn, another blogger will write a review for your blog. Instead of a 'link exchange' this process is creating an inbound-only link from another blog, therefore increasing your Google PageRank. When Google PageRank increases, not only does your blog popularity increase, but your opportunities for making blogging money will increase as you are offered more paid reviews. I find this little program to be quite awesome!

Smorty is currently offering a beta version of their Digxa Widgets. I haven't yet tried this feature, but I have read that it connects to products by Amazon. If you aren't yet an Amazon affiliate, and don't have plans to become one, this is a super easy way to begin earning commission from product sales. Yet another great way to make money for blogging with Smorty.

Lastly, Smorty offers a friend referral program. You will earn 5% commission on all payments made to any referred bloggers who sign up under your referral link. If you have a blog, it is my opinion that you can’t lose with Smorty.

Creating a Christmas Playlist

I got a special gift today from one of my online friends. It was a link to a Christmas playlist. What a wonderful gift that was. I may be overreacting, but I was just tickled by the fact that I can click and open up a player filled with Christmas songs. Since this is just not something I would think to take the time to do, it's been a simple pleasure for me to simply go to the page and play it whenever the mood struck me. I love music, but for some reason, I just don't think to play it. I race around the internet all day long, writing articles, and telling other people the best ways to stay upbeat, get in touch with their higher selves, and give treats to make the world a better place. Obviously, I'm not that great at following my own advice. So, this little music player was just an inspiration to me.

If you'd like to make a Christmas playlist of your own, you can find the instructions by clicking here. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

Can I be psychic, but still be a child of God?

People have a tendency to confuse God with religion. People also have a tendency to confuse the term psychic' with the act of fortune-telling. The term God,' as defined by our trusty Merriam-Webster dictionary is the supreme or ultimate reality. We are all God's children, as we are all creations of that supreme reality. As such, we are each individual pieces of a whole, and since we come from an origin that is defined as supreme and ultimate, we then are each, by nature, instilled with the ability to use, work from, and live by the characteristics of that ultimate reality. I don't make mistakes, do you?

Check out my latest article...

Click here to read 'I don't make mistakes, do you?'

ALOL!

Ok, it's quite possible that 'alol' has already been around and I simply haven't heard of it. Do you know when you come up with an absolutely brilliant idea and think you've stumbled on to something for which you might gain a tad bit of recognition, only to discover that 12 people have already thought of it, you're NOT original, and they are making 14 bazillion dollars a week off the idea?

Anyway, that may, in fact, be the case with alol. Regardless, I'm writing here in an attempt to 'record' my 'invention' (alol).

Ok...what the heck is alol? Alol means actually laughing out loud. I, like many of you, am guilty of typing lol, even when I'm not l'ing ol. I understand that lol is corny and for 'avatards' (another phrase that I thought I coined, but in fact was preceded by someone as clever as, but not as slow as, myself) however, using terms like lol and brb become a way of life when a person types on the internet as much I do.

So, there you have it. Feel free to use alol as much as possible. If it shows up randomly in conversation with someone I've never talked to, at least I can choose to believe that it was I who started one of the latest internet legacies. :P

Note: I've just discovered that ALOL is NOT on the urban dictionary. I, therefore, am claiming ownership there now!

I Squidoo, Do you?

Create a Squidoo Page to Earn Money, Advertise your Business, or Both!

Squidoo is a great place where anyone can easily set up a web page on any topic, including personal interests, business ventures, affiliate marketing, or anything else! Squidoo makes it easy to upload pictures, display videos, connect to eBay auctions, Café Press shops, and everything on Amazon. Not only do you earn part of the revenue from affiliating, Squidoo also shares part of it’s ad revenue with you.

Create a Squidoo Lens Now

A Squidoo page is called a ‘lens,’ and creators of lenses are called ‘lensmasters.’ Squidoo starts you right out with a page to create your lens, with the opportunity to add a couple keywords, give it a title, and choose a category. If this seems intimidating, which I’ll admit it was for me, you can start off by checking out other people’s lenses, to get an idea of what’s available to you. Either way, whatever you create can be modified once you’re inside your Dashboard, so don’t worry too much about what you enter on the first couple of pages. You’ll have the opportunity to add SO much more to it.

Once you’ve gone through the first couple of screens, click ‘publish my page now.’ This will take you to the next page where you’ll name the actual link for the page. This is the only thing you’ll never be able to change. Squidoo handily fills in a suggestion for you, and it’s likely the best option to simply accept it. Once you’ve clicked all the way through, and published your page, you’ll want to go to the Dashboard. From there you can add more text modules, fun sticky notes for important statements, modules for selling products from Amazon and eBay, voting modules for links and videos, links to Twitter, and so much more. You can always make changes, so play with it as much as you like.

Check out my pages to get ideas
Check out my lens

Inside the Dashboard, the My Lenses tab gives you a list of all your lenses with options to edit, label, and even delete. You can also check stats, approve comments, update your profile and look at your favorited lenses from the Dashboard. Create many new lenses, admire those in the Top 100, scope out the Lens of the Day, and learn more about the great opportunities of being a lensmaster at SquidU.

Squidoo takes a bit to get the hang of, and it takes a bit for your pages to catch on. Use all your connections, including the buttons on your actual Lens, to promote your page to places like Twitter, Delicious, Facebook and Myspace. Enjoy increasing revenue from your own advertising and affiliate sales, or shared revenue from Squidoo’s advertising and affiliate programs.

The best advice I can give is to check out other lenses before you decide to get started. This way, you’ll get a picture of just how many options you have to display those things about which you are so passionate. Whether it’s Krispy Kreme donuts, Metallica, your aunt’s hand-knitted mittens, or your Clixsense affiliation, make a lens. It’s cool, it’s fun, it’s easy, and you’ll make a little money for your efforts.

Sign up for Squidoo and start earning money doing something fun!

‘Save a whole load of money’ for Christmas

Do toys ever really lose their appeal? Our children love toys, but don’t we get just as excited shopping for them now as we did receiving toys as kids? I know I’m not a kid anymore, but I can spend hours in the Toy Store pressing buttons on gadgets, pulling strings on talking dolls, and dreaming of how many things I could build with a 49,000 piece Lego set!

Save Buckets has millions of products, cheap toys, and other unusual gifts displayed in their online store. Find great great and thoughtful gift ideas for any number of occasions, including birthdays, Christmas, Weddings and other special days. Get Teddy Bears, Novelty and Sporting gifts, Personalized gifts, and special experience gifts like spa treatments, makeovers, and hotel packages.

But let’s talk about toys. Let’s talk about cheap toys. The difference between shopping online at Save Buckets, and shopping at your local toy store, is not only price, but online at Save Buckets, each product has its own space. Rather than being crowded on shelves of other toys, where the best items might be missed because they are less expensive, and not prominently displayed, you can find neat, exciting, and cheap toys on every page. At Save Buckets, you’ll find products from Dora the Explorer, Hot Wheels, V-Tech, Hannah Montana, and more.

Or how about one of the most popular items for Christmas, the Wii Fit with Wii Balance Board! Comparison shop for great electronics products for the whole family. Save buckets displays the lowest prices for Wii Fit with Wii Balance Board side by side, so you can make the best choice for your dollar. Another great thing about Save Buckets is the ability to negotiate. If you see a product that you like, but don’t want to pay the cost, you can ‘make an offer’ and Save Buckets will let you know when that item arrives within your price range. How sweet is that?

Get the Mario Kart + Wii Wheel,Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock (with Wireless Guitar Controller, or even the Wii Fit Mega Bundle, all at grand savings.

Not convinced you need a Wii Fit? Check out this story Is Work Killing Me? - Wii in an Unhealthy Workplace. Love the T-Shirt!!!! :P This is a comical post from an even more comical blog called The Pasty Muncher. Don’t you LOVE the internet?!?!?!?

So anyway, I advise you to go and comparison shop for great gift ideas, and cheap toys at Save Buckets. Get a Wii or another super great, super sought after, and super cheap electronic, toy or, really, anything else you can think of! Enjoy….

Are you a product of the 80s?

Well, if you are, you've probably heard of Hair Bands!! The wanna-be metal groups (some of which actually pulled off the metal part!) that we so loved back in the day! Poison, Cinderella, Ratt, Motley Crue... even KISS, Metallica, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden. Well....if you loved this kind of music, I present to you

80s Music - Hair Bands, Glam Bands, Metal Bands

This is a cool page with videos, history, bios, pics, etc. (I made it, so I know it's cool!) Thanks for checking it out and if you would be so kind, leave me a rating at the top of the page!

Thanks and ROCK ON!

Blogger Talk Online

If you've been following this blog, you'll probably have already guessed just how much I like to find money opportunities. I like even more to share them with my readers, because I know just how excited I get when I find something legitimate. I discovered a blog today full of money opportunities, but some are legitimate, some are not. Firstly, I wasn't excited about the pop-up I received immediately upon clicking in. And being that I have my website with a directory of legitimate paid survey sites, I immediately recognized some things that I wouldn't get involved in. However, at Blogger Talk Online | Make Money Online | Work At Home I did see a few things I plan to look into. There are some legitimate opportunities on this blog, however, be very careful if you plan to check it out. Never, ever pay for the opportunity to take a survey, or sign up to make money. That kind of thing is just not real.

The lost pages

This blog The lost pages, Adult content, funny has quite some funny jokes. I laughed out loud several times. A new spin on some jokes you've heard a thousand times. My favorite of the funnies was this:

How can you lift an elephant with one hand?
A. It is not a problem, since you will never find an elephant with one hand.

Remember these? Who's buried in Grant's tomb? If a plane crashed, where would you bury the survivors? There's many of these types of jokes on The lost pages, Adult content, funny that I've not read before. I got quite a chuckle.

As goes with my quest; he also has a post entitled '...Blissful Life.' Here you'll find tips to get your 'living in the flow.' That kind of stuff always gets me feeling the joy. What an intricate life of pathways we live.

He says this 'Have you settled for that sad story? Please don’t!' Go check it out:

Lovefooled Ethanol

I stumbled upon a blog today that reminded me a bit of this one (hopefully he doesn't take that as an insult...lol) It's here at littlepinoy. I was looking it over and found several things that interested me. If you like this blog, it's likely you'll find something of interest when you go and visit Ethanol.

First, I discovered a link to yet another place to write and get paid. I'll let you discover it at his blog, just in case he has an affiliate link. I love discovering new ways to make money, so thanks to Ethanol for that!

Second, he's written about a dream that he had. How much do I love simmering over the interpretation of dreams? Well, if you've been following this blog, and some of the places I talk about, you'll know that I love, love, love it. Sounds to me, from the post, that he's having an inner struggle with some great restrictions that have been put upon his happiness.... but I might need to know more to determine whether he's putting those restrictions on himself, or if someone else is hindering his style. :) No charge...LOL.

There's also some great info on the enviromentalist's perspective of the Obama victory, as well as a great article about Energy Vampires...wheee...

Check it out. The link again is this: littlepinoy.

How to Celebrate Universal Children’s Day

Universal Children’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954, Universal Children’s Day is to be observed as a day of understanding and promoting the health, welfare, and well-being of all children across the globe. November 20th marks the anniversary of the day on which the General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of a Child, and the Convention on the Rights of a Child. Many countries choose to celebrate Universal Children’s Day on November 20th.

According to Wikipedia, the United States is one of only two countries that has not ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child. There are apparently several contradictions between the laws of the United States and the convention. (More information can be found here.) The United States does make attempts to recognize a day called National Child’s Day. Each year it is proclaimed by the President on varying dates. Nevertheless, several independent organizations and companies in the United States choose to recognize Universal Children’s Day on November 20th.

Regardless of National Holiday status, or conflicting laws and regulations, each of us can choose to participate in events to commemorate this special day, and our children of the world. There are many things you and I can do to independently celebrate Universal Children’s Day, or join up with the many organizations who choose to honor children of the world on November 20th.

Most importantly, use this day to reflect on the fact that our children are important members of society. It goes without saying that they will one day grow up to be our leaders, co-workers, friends and neighbors. Use this day to celebrate your own children, the children in your community, and others by paying special attention, listening, giving a special treat, or simply recognizing the worth of a child.

On a broader scale, there are also many opportunities for you to recognize Universal Children’s Day. The Ronald McDonald House accepts donations at McDonald’s restaurants, as well as at their website, Ronald McDonald House Charities. A very small donation at NothingButNets.net gives mosquito nets to African refugees. Additionally, the UNICEF website is packed with information regarding children who need our help.

If money is not what you have to give, there are many other things you can do to commemorate Universal Children’s Day. A free e-card can be sent from 123 Greetings. There are activities and Worldwide games that can be played to teach children how their peers in other countries live each day. These ideas can be found on the UNICEF website by clicking here.

As you can see, Universal Children’s Day holds an important concept. Children are a source of life, creativity, humor, love, and light to the world. Honor them this year by contributing money, time, attention, or patience. Even the smallest effort can offer large rewards for a child.

Music anyone?

Check out Shop.com for music at http://www.shop.com/musica-a.shtml. Shop.com's musicSHOP features some hot music CDs from George Strait, Elliott Yamin, Seal, and Josh Groban, just to name a few.

There are a few things that I like about Shop.com's musicSHOP. First, I like the idea that they list all the places to buy each CD, in order, by price. That way, I can choose the best price, or most appropriate shipping method for my lifestyle. Of the listings I saw, many of the best offered free shipping, so one should keep that in mind when shopping around for great CD prices.

The other thing I like is musicSHOP's free music player. Not only can you hear great songs IN FULL, but each page of the player widget gives great information on the artist, including any merchandise giveaways, or contests currently being run (see George Strait's Classic Christmas for a link to win a guitar signed by George Strait.) Also shown are direct links to each artist's official website, any videos that might be online, and each artist's MySpace link.

Shop.com's musicSHOP seems like a neat place to find, and listen to music. Check it out, and I'll bet their selections change alot, so with that fact, plus all the other departments that Shop.com offers, I'm thinking the smart shopper in me will bookmark this one.

Australian Cattle Dog

Here's an article I wrote for another website. I wanted to share it here, in case anyone is looking for this info. Enjoy!

The Australian Cattle Dog

The Australian Cattle Dog is one of the Herding group, as the breed has a history of being loyally devoted to its mission when controlling the movement of cattle. Australian Cattle Dogs are hardworking, powerful and agile. They have protective instincts, which were appropriate for assisting stockmen in harsh conditions, and are still used by ranchers, and farmers of today. Developed in Australia in the 1800s, this dog is surrounded by controversy over what breeds were actually used to create this small, yet muscular animal. Suspicions include Collies, Terriers, the Dalmatian, and the Dingo, just to name a few.

The Australian Cattle Dog can make the perfect pet, under the right conditions. This breed is extremely active, and must remain so in order to thrive in a family situation. An ideal setting would include ample room to run, and exercise, lots of attention from its owner, and a stable environment. This breed is said to be an excellent participant in such things as Frisbee and other ‘Dog Sports.’ Australian Cattle Dogs are extremely intelligent, but also protective, so as an owner, one must attempt to keep this dog in somewhat calm, and non-chaotic situations. When the animal senses a threat, or imminent danger to its owner or surroundings, it has the potential to become over-protective, or even fierce.

The Australian Cattle Dog’s coat is what is known as a double coat. The outer layer is short, and straight, while the undercoat is dense, and curly. This type of coat is ideal for keeping the dog safe in harsh weather conditions, although, an owner would not be wise to keep an Australian Cattle Dog outside for long periods. This breed typically sheds about once per year, making for minimal cleanup of dog hair, and as a smaller dog of between 30 and 50 lbs, and about 17 to 20 inches tall, a large inside area is not necessary.

There are some interesting facts about this breed. Australian Cattle Dogs are all born white in color, with either blue or red coloring coming in as they age. They are sometimes referred to as Red Heelers, Blue Heelers, or Queensland Heelers. They may also be referred to as ‘shadow dogs,’ as they love to be near their owners, and suffer greatly if regularly left alone for long periods.

Australian Cattle Dogs would be best suited in country homes, with no small children, and lots of stability. A home environment including working tasks, or energetic participation in sports and outdoor games would be idea.

Sarah Palin - Heroine or Heroin?

(I wrote this article for Associated Content...thought I'd share with you)

So the other night, I had this dream....

More about that in a minute.

I'm curious as to what would happen if we removed our emotions from the decisions we make at the polls. I'm not a politically charged person by nature. I don't generally spend alot of time collecting the proper amount of knowledge to make a truly informed decision on what's best for our country, our states, or our general well-being as a population. Do you? Do you really spend alot of time researching the TRUTH? Do any of us know the truth? Or do you listen to your neighbor, with his opinions based loosely somewhere around what he heard on the radio last week, or what he's decided is HIS truth, since nurture played a larger role in his upbringing than did nature? I've heard stories, and speeches, and rants, and slander from every direction, and going in every direction. How is it possible, do tell me, that any of us can really make an informed decision? From what we hear on the news, and in television commercials?

If you're looking for me to answer that question now, I'm sorry to disappoint. I don't have the answer, and I hope that you realize you don't either. This is in no way to discourage you from making your favored selection on Tuesday. By all means, give your opinion. But understand that's all it is. How many of us know these candidates well? How many of us realize just what's in store for us once the decision is made? How would we decide if our thoughts were completely devoid of any emotional charge, and solely based on fact? If Barack Obama's color didn't bother us, and Sarah Palin's gender didn't bother us. How would we decide if we weren't completely irate with the shenanigans of the past 8 years? Or if we understood that our government has much more control over what we see and hear than we know about? And if that fact didn't make us more angry than we already are?

Now that I've filled your head with a thousand questions, let me tell you about my dream. I walked into a room, and spotted Sarah Palin hunched over in the corner, by some cabinets. I looked a little more closely, and noticed that she was shooting heroin. Yep, seriously. I thought quick, something I don't generally do while awake, and snapped a picture of it with my cell phone. As I started to walk away, her goons came after me, and I woke up, with cell phone in hand! Much to my dismay, without any actual pictures of Sarah; heroin or not.

Now, what on Earth does this mean? I'm leaving it up to you to give me your opinions, answers, interpretations, etc. There are a million different ways you can decipher what this dream means to me, what it means to you, and what it might mean to your neighbor. The symbolism involved in this dream was for me personally, but it was also to be shared with you. Fill up your explanation of my dream with all your opinions, your similar experiences, your rage-filled insults, and your comedic retorts. The answers that you give, my friends, are based on the same experiences, and opinions that will be driving your answers on Tuesday. Ask yourself why you read this article, and how it made you feel. Then ask yourself why you feel the way you do about each of our candidates, and how your feelings will affect the outcome of this election, and our country's future. Is Sarah Palin a heroine? Is John McCain a villain? Is Barack Obama a direct descendant of Osama Bin Laden? Well, their names do sound alot alike! Let's get real. Take another look at what you can see, and remove yourself from your feelings. Make a decision based on the truth, if you know where to find it.

How to Make a Decision Using Your Body and Kinesiology

Your body has an energy field, and this energy field acts and reacts towards all other fields of energy, thought and event. Kinesiology is the focus of how the body functions and moves. There are a few muscle tests, and body tests, that can be used to help you make a decision, based upon your own internal reactions in your energy field. Making a proper decision has never been easier! Read on...

One way to make a decision using your body is called the 'Sway Test.' Stand up and relax your shoulders and your knees. In order to get you used to this, so you can see the accurate results, is to start with a Yes or No question that you know the answer to. Say out loud, 'My Name is _______' (of course, inserting your own name.) You should feel your body sway slightly forward. Now when you say out loud, 'My Name is ________' and you say a name that is not your own, you should sway slightly backwards. Practice until you can notice the sway. It may take a few times. Once you're swaying appropriately, you can ask any number of yes or no questions, make statements, or even find out which products are healthiest for your body. Try it out next time you're at the store. Hold certain foods in your hand and see which way your body sways. This will give you excellent insight into which foods your body wants, and which foods to avoid.

Another way to make a decision using your body's natural reactive properties, is Finger Dowsing. Simply, make a circle with your index finger and thumb. Again, you may want to test this with the 'my name is' from above. Once you see the differences between true and false, again you can ask any series of yes or no questions, or make statements to see the results. If YES, your fingers will remain locked together. If NO, you'll notice your strength is reduced and your fingers will open slightly to all the way.

Another form of dowsing is used by rubbing your hand across any smooth surface, or rubbing your hands together. Choose one of these to test. Think YES in your mind and rub the surface, or your hands. You should notice a 'smooth' action. Think NO in your mind, and you should notice a more 'sticky' surface. You may have to do this a couple of times to notice the subtle change. Once you discover the difference between 'smooth' and 'sticky,' this is a surprisingly accurate means to an answer.

There are also many tools and other methods used for dowsing. A simple search on Google for keywords dowsing, kinesiology, and/or muscle testing should provide you with many informative results.

Dowsing and body work takes a bit of practice and patience. Some people may find consistency much more quickly than others. With proper use and an open mind, any of the above methods, in addition to other methods of dowsing and muscle testing, can become a very reliable method of living the healthiest life possible.

How to Communicate with a Psychic Pet

If you have ever had pets, you might wonder if your pets are psychic. We hear stories about how pets save their owners by dialing telephones, and dragging them from the raging flames of a fire. When people move or change residences, pets will sometimes turn up at their old homes, as far away as thousands of miles. Your pets can even sense when you're getting ready to leave for vacation. So, is your pet psychic?

It seems easy for some people to believe that pets are psychic. In fact, every living thing has a connection with the universal source, and with each other. Some people and pets are more in tune with this connection, therefore, for those, it's easier to see, hear, and feel with this sixth sense. The first thing to do to develop your psychic and spiritual connection with your pet is talk. Talk to your pet however makes you most comfortable. If you already do this; great! Pets love attention, and affection just as much as humans do. By speaking to your animals, you are showing them that you love and care for them, and this will make them more comfortable with you.

Once you are comfortable with the level of verbal communication, you might start to pay attention to your pet's behavior. Pets will act certain ways, and hold their bodies at certain postures, to communicate different thoughts and feelings. After a time of assessing these clues from your pet, you will start to notice a pattern, and be better equipped to make sense of it. For example: if your cat's tail is straight up, this usually means your cat is relaxed and happy. Another example is the position of your dogs ears. You already know that if your dogs' ears are perked, that they are using their heightened listening skills to hear something that you're maybe not able to hear. Watching a pet's body language can be very telling, and can get you closer to gaining the ability to communicate by psychic means.

It is possible to communicate telepathically with your pet. It is also possible to gain better understanding of your pet's particular way of communicating by sitting quietly and close with your pet. While you are both calm and relaxed, you might notice any number of sensations. These sensations could come in the form of colors, smells, or blocks of thought.

Keep in mind that your imagination can help you along. Even if you have a thought that seems silly, think about how 'out of the blue' it might be, and try to piece together how it might refer to a message from your pet. Once you practice a bit, you will understand how your particular pet likes to communicate, and you'll be better able to understand and care for the particular needs of each pet.

It is also possible that pets that pass on will attempt to communicate with you. If you've never experienced this, don't rule it out. Many people have reported seeing their pets as 'ghosts' long after they have passed. Depending upon the strength of your relationship with a particular pet, you may notice similar traits in a new pet. This could be a sign that your beloved pet has reincarnated to be with you once again. Don't rule this out either. It's a very real possibility.

In any case, all your pets look to you for support and love. If the best you can do is provide a warm, loving, healthy environment for your pets, they will be perfectly satisfied. Psychic communications are simply another way for you to connect with your pets.

Anyone ever told you you're too sensitive?

This post is at the askShar.com forums, on the free boards. Feel free to reply here on blogspot, or at the forums. As a note, the askShar forums have a special running until the end of October. Signup for the paid forums, to get access to psychic readings and dream interpretations! $9.95 for 10 days...check it out. You don't want to miss the fun. On to the post...

I've been hearing that my whole life. I'm too sensitive. I cry too much. Blah blah blah. Unfortunately, because of all the harrassment, I moved further into the 'cold as ice' category! However, great as I've become at hiding behind a wall, I still feel everything. I'm starting to realize that this may be a gift, not a curse! Though, in order for this gift to realize it's full potential, I realize I've got some work to do.

A little background: I've discovered that I'm very sensitive to other people's feelings. When someone is upset or angry around me, whether it's AT me or at another situation that doesn't even involve me, I still feel pressure from those feelings. It's almost like it changes my entire cosmic make-up. I'm not sure if I feel like I need to do something to make those feelings go away, or what, but I feel some connection and responsibility to other people's feelings. It's a physical feeling inside my body. Does this happen to you? Throughout my life, I've not been aware of what this is about, so it's been misused and created some ill feelings for others and myself. I never knew how to explain it, or deal with it, so it always came out wrong, and inevitably made people around me feel even worse. I've always just wanted to help people through whatever they are feeling, cause I feel it too!!!!!

So, my questions are these: Does this have anything to do with being an empath? And, if so, how can I channel this ill feeling into something constructive for the person I'm feeling it from, and for myself?

Paid Online Surveys - Legitimate or Scams? Final Answer

Okay...in addition to Zany Zodiacs Free Weekly Horoscopes, I've also taken it upon myself to try to cut through the black sea of scam survey sites to give people the skinny on how to actually earn extra income taking scam free, legitimate paid online surveys. If you hate surveys, just ignore me today, cause I'm on a rant. We'll get back to the psychic and astrological stuff shortly!

This undertaking reminds me of my high school study hall class. I got caught whispering during study hall and I questioned authority. The answer I received is that the teachers used to allow talking in study hall until it got out of hand. Apparently, as you can imagine, kids got loud, rambunctious, crazy, wild, and uncontrollable until the rule was made... no talking during study hall. I remember thinking immediately, wow...a few pests ruined it for the rest of us; forever! This paid survey thing is the same way. There are so many people out there claiming to be legitimate just because they make a few bucks, or even cents, if you sign your email box away to 50 million spammers trying to sell you every piece of crap under the sun. So much so, that no one will listen to me. So I've got Google Ads on my website, which help me to fund the free directory, but each and every Online Survey Company listed in my main directory is a legitimate marketing research company, free to join, offering cash, prizes and sweepstakes entries, just for giving your opinion. I take these surveys and I just received a check in the mail today for 20 bucks! For like 30 minutes of my time. That's $40 per hour. Do you make $40 per hour? If you do, I'm sooooo jealous! :P

The point is this: you can't make $40 straight for a week. This isn't going to pay your mortgage. But you can use this as extra money to buy that pair of Nike's you've had your eye on, go out to eat in the middle of a nationwide financial crisis, or simply put it toward the electric bill. There ARE legitimate survey companies out there and they are listed at SurveyMoneyMakers.com. Even more importantly, each survey company is broken down to it's own page where you can view, and rate, individual experiences with each paid online survey company. You don't have to take my word for it!

So, here's a little video to whet your whistle. The other great thing about this video is that it's stored at Revver.com, which I just discovered today. Revver.com apparently offers a place for your to upload your own videos and get paid to distribute them. Additionally, they will pay you a little something if you help distribute other people's video creations. It's worth checking out. There are some funny videos there.

Ok so here's my Paid Online Survey Video. Please give it a watch and then check out the legitimate survey money making opportunities at SurveyMoneyMakers.com

How to Have the Best Halloween Ever!

If you want some great tips on how to have a super dooper crazy fun Halloween, here are some tips....

Tip 1. Don't buy pumpkins from the grocery store! Make an event of traveling to your local pumpkin farm to pick out your own! You can usually find listings in the phone book, or on the internet, for the closest pumpkin farms to your home. Get a bunch of kids, or friends, or both, and someone with a truck or sizable trunk, to get together and carpool for a pumpkin-picking party. Be sure you pick up enough for all the adventures, and a few extra in case those pesky pumpkin smashers target your home!

Tip 2. Have a pumpkin carving (or painting) party. This can be done anytime before or on the holiday. Invite everyone you know to join you, and you can provide refreshments, or have people bring potluck. Everyone should bring their own pumpkin, as well, but you might want to have a few extra on hand, just in case! Enjoy the fun of watching everyone carve their favorite style of pumpkin. You can post fun rules for original carvings only, or you can provide or allow pumpkin-carving stencils for everyone's enjoyment. Have a vote and give away a little Halloween prize to the winner. Save all the seeds. See the next step for ideas.

Tip 3. There are many recipes available, and ways to cook pumpkin seeds. Recipe books are available at retail stores this time of year, or you could Google terms like 'roasted pumpkin seeds,' 'spicy pumpkin seeds,' 'how to cook pumpkin seeds.' There are also some great articles here on e-how for pumpkin seed recipes.
